Product Description
Callaway Golf has had the same goal in mind when it comes to X Series irons- set the performance standard for the industry. The new X-22 Irons don't disappoint and are the best X Series irons Callaway Golf has ever created. By maximizing perimeter weighting , these irons boast an MOI that's 10 percent higher than their predecessors. The ideal CG position has been preserved, generating optimal ball-flight trajectories. The Modified Tru-Bore design has been incorporated, dampening vibration for enhanced feel and the tour-inspired head shape has a slightly thinner topline and a sole with a large sweet spot for improved aesthetics and forgiveness that will boost any golfer's confidence.
The goal of Callaway's X-Series irons has always been lofty: to set the performance standard for the industry. Now Callaway does it again with the X-22 irons, the best X-Series irons the company has ever made. Callaway's X-22 irons are dialed in for maximum performance, with such features as Precision Notch Weighting, VFT Technology, a Modified Tru-Bore design, and a tour-inspired head shape. It's no wonder that the X-22 irons won a gold medal in the "game improvement irons" category from Golf Digest's 2009 Hot List. As one tester said of the X-22s: "I could hit these blindfolded. Sign me up right now." Currently sitting in tour player Rocco Mediate's bag, the X-22s received five stars in three of the four Hot List categories. The X-22s are the heirs of the unbelievably successful X-20 irons, which were used by Mediate as well as Senior U.S. Open Champion Eduardo Romero and LPGA winner Leta Lindley.

Callaway's X-22 irons are dialed in for maximum performance and serious forgiveness. Callaway Golf Technologies
The X-22 irons are outfitted with several core technologies, including both relatively new innovations and technologies that have stood the test of time. Callaway maximized the perimeter weighting of the X-22s to create a moment of inertia (MOI) that's 10 percent higher than earlier versions, giving you more leeway on off-center strikes. This boosts the club's overall forgiveness and stability, while still maintaining the center-of-gravity position that produces an ideal trajectory and feel. The X-22s Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology, meanwhile, maximizes ball speed and perimeter weighting to create even more distance and forgiveness. And a crucial improvement comes in the form of the S2H2 design, a patented technology that shortens the length of the hosel, allowing the weight to be moved lower and to the more useful perimeter area of the clubhead. Add in a 360-Degree Undercut Channel--which maximizes perimeter weighting by moving the center of gravity even lower and farther back--and you have a club that hits the ball far and straight even on rough swings.
The X-22 irons are also aesthetically pleasing, with a PGA Tour-inspired head shape that incorporates a thin top line and a narrow sole. As a result, the clubs look and feel great in your hand while still offering a large sweet spot--a must for casual players. Finally, the X-22s boast an advanced version of Callaway's original Tru-Bore design, which features a polycarbonate tip plug at the end of the shaft to dampen vibration and enhance feel and performance.

The X-22 irons include a Tour-inspired head shape and precise perimeter weighting for added leeway on off-center hits.

X22s are a huge step up... 5 by .. Andy R ()
Ok, so I'll admit that I'm coming off a set of 20 yr old irons. So an upgrade to most any modern set would be a huge improvement. Im 25 yrs old, play 15-20 times a season, and shoot in the low 90s.

I hit these X22s at a local golf show along with the newest PING, Taylormade, and Nike irons. Of course it's all personal preference, but these irons were hands down the winner for me. I also read about the X18s, which can be found new for a very reasonable price. Several updates made by Callaway were enough for me to buy the newest irons for this season.

I've since had the irons out on the course. They hit long and straight. Very forgiving, that's for sure. Excellent feel, weight, and play. Extremely happy with these irons given the price tag.
